My skin is so annoying. Dry in some places and greasier than a topless Italian car salesman. So a skincare review was only a matter of time!

I set out to Twitter to get some help knowing that someone would point me in the right direction. I’d been struggling with really dry skin in the mornings, generally feeling tight and uncomfortable. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait long.

Within minutes the fabulous Lindsey came back with this suggestion…

Only to be backed up by Richard (haha)…

The next day I was at my local Boots picking up myself some Nivea Post Shave Balm, as later suggested by Lindsey. The idea to use post shave balm as a moisturiser seemed odd, but I’m not one to let semantics get in the way of a good recommendation.

That was six days ago and I’ve been using the balm twice a day; in the morning and in the evening.

Applying a little to my face I’ve found that it actually covers a lot larger area than your normal moisturiser – it definitely has a more liquified consistency.

Force of habit left me with too much on my hand for just my face so I also moisturised my arms and torso (yes with ‘post shave balm’ without shaving!) and have found myself doing this daily. I have generally dry, sensitive and on occasion flakey skin – so I was keen to see if there’d be any marked improvement.

After using Nivea for little under a week I haven’t had the typically dry stretched feeling in the mornings, pre and post shower. I’ve also found that the dry skin on my arms and torso has slowly improved. To put in context; I would have a rash caused by dry skin on my arm by the end of a working day but by using the Nivea Post Shave Balm, I’ve found that this has cleared up about 70%, still slightly visible but definitely dissipating.

I’d recommend this product to anyone who suffers with dry, sensitive skin – whilst it moistens dry areas it also doesn’t make my greasy t-zones a beacon of shininess!

So there has it, my first skincare review and definitely not my last! Big thanks to Lindsey for the recommendation and Richard for the innuendo.
