As far as grooming products are concerned you wouldn’t think of the South West, you’d be more inclined to think pasties and pirates.

There is one grooming product from ‘down these parts’ that’s becoming more prevalent across the UK, yes it’s Bluebeards Revenge. This is one of the manliest brands breaking through the mainstream, providing quality shaving and male grooming products.

Bluebeards Revenge is all about the experience with the aim of improving every man’s grooming regime with help from their range of quality products. So when they reached out to me to try out said products, I jumped at the chance.

Matt Paste

Bluebeards Revenge Matt Paste

I’ve used many different types of matt paste over the years and Bluebeards Revenge is definitely up there in the top bracket.

With every brand there’s those little eccentricities which you need to find for yourself – Bluebeards Revenge Matt Paste is no different in this respect. This is probably more suitable for shorter hair than what mine currently is, but it still does a great job at keeping my hair in check and under control.

My one word of advice is to use sparingly, go slow and build up layer by layer for ultra texture. If you’re looking for a pure matt finish – this isn’t for you, it still gives a bit of a sheen to any style really.

At £9.99 I’d say it’s the highest end of budget products and I’d recommend this if you’ve short hair looking for a matt sheen look.

Bluebeards Revenge Pomade

Ah, so pomade… I’m going to admit it, I’ve never used pomade so this was a whole new ballgame for me. As regular readers will know, I tend to stay away from a high shine finish, but this doesn’t mean I’d never give it a try!

Thankfully my parting is quite high on both sides with a borderline undercut to the right, so when doing anything ‘slick’ I’ve got that real defined parting which sweeps over into a quiff.

How did the pomade do? Well, I found the application the difficult part; I’m so used to blowdrying then applying, so when I attempted this it looked kinda clumpy. Take 2, I tried with wet hair and applied evenly, styled and finished with a low heat blow dry – the result was perfect!

Again priced at £9.99 – it’s worth it and smells great!

Eau de Toilette

When it comes to fragrance, I rarely take to a scent straight away and I do take some getting used to it. Bluebeards Revenge refer to their Eau de Toilette as ‘manliness in a bottle’ and to be fair it’s not that far off.

I do like the scent although it’s probably too musty for me, that’s not a derogatory statement, more a personal preference on my part.

Priced at just £19.99 for 100ml it’s actually quite good value for money. The atomiser spray works well and the scent stayed with you for the day. I’ve also received a few compliments whilst wearing it at work too!
